We had just settled down for the evening in Keyhaven after lunching our friend Sheila, who lives locally, when the phone rang. It was another friend, Jerry Eardley sailing his remarkable 30ft wooden sloop which has taken him nearly 10 years to build. Mind you, he did start virtually from the tree, and fabricated much of the metal work himself.
We met as he entered Hurst and did a mutual photo shoot. The we escorted him to Marchwood, where he spent a couple of nights before continuing with his planned circumnavigation of the UK mainland.
